A quest sounds very noble, rather grand and even quite exciting. Sounds as though I am looking for the holy grail doesn’t it? But what is my quest to learn affiliate marketing about really and why?

How it all began!
In a far off galaxy ………
……….
many aeons ago ………….
……………….
No, not really………
It began with my adult daughter telling me I should be an “influencer” because I had over 20,00 twitter followers.
An Influencer: a person able to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on social media.
I was none the wiser. Her information? Lots of people do it and lots of companies hire influencers.
Me: Where can I get information?
Response: Online. You just do some tweets and get paid if people buy whatever you are advertising!
Sounds easy, I can do that. But was it? No of course not!
The next step!
But as time went on and I researched, looked at different companies and joined one. I had to set up an account, then set up a page to attract customers. I had no idea what I was doing. Couldn’t find anything to walk me through the process either. Everywhere I went on the internet pop ups from their app would appear for me to tweet. Yes, I tweeted those tweets for them in the hope of gaining something, even encouragement would have been nice. After a few weeks I stopped tweeting them.
After 3 months of nothing, I emailed them to inquire about next or further steps. Was I surprised when I didn’t get any response? A bit but I tried again, still nothing. So I deleted my account and the app and that was it.
I was essentially advertising their wares and their customers wares for free. You live and learn.
So that was a dead end!
But I am stubborn, I would find out more if possible. I would keep going regardless.
I might have reached a dead end but at least all I had wasted was time and effort, not cash.
The Quest.
I had no intention of giving up just because one avenue was a dead end.
I intended to buckle up and get right
back on the horse.
This had become a quest for knowledge. There had to be honest companies, after all a lot of people were already doing this and working online.
I wanted to find the holy grail of my particular quest. A real company with a way of working to earn money and didn’t con people to earn that wage.
It couldn’t be that hard, could it?
The information was out there somewhere, I just had to find it.
I started finding references to affiliate marketing and compared it with being an “Influencer”. They didn’t seem that different to me, plus being an affiliate marketer seemed as though it was more of a job to do and earn from.
I had no idea what it entailed but how hard could it be? I had started watching loads of videos that touted the amazing lifestyle that came with working a couple of hours a week.
I spent months researching for information on affiliate marketing. I wanted to learn but everything I came across offered the world for payment but had no substance.
I was starting to get very disillusioned by it all.
Then I started reading blogs on the subject. Once I started I found loads of them about various companies. Some were touting a particular “system” of their own. Others did comparisons to show you what was out there. Many others were writing about ones that were scams. If you have been seriously looking for information you will have come across lot’s of these too I expect.
Some of course touted everything except their own system as a scam.
Or they pushed for the one they got most commission on.
It can be very disillusioning. One saying this is fantastic and another saying don’t touch it, it’s a scam.

There were constant choices, did I go in that direction or this, take that path or the other one. I kept reaching a crossroads. Several directions with no clear idea which way to go.
I didn’t want to waste time on leads that went nowhere but on the other hand I could miss out on a prime opportunity by not exploring every avenue.
So I kept looking, checking out every path just in case.
The main thing was, that I didn’t give up.
Wealthy Affiliates?
So the search continued over the months. The same name kept coming up over and over again. I followed the trail, finding out everything I could about it and it led me to Wealthy Affiliates. Read an early review I did after 4 weeks HERE!
and another review 6 months further on HERE!
All I had seen about this company sounded good but by now I was sceptical of everything. So I had a quick look and left. Looked pretty good but was it?
You could join for free. That was good right? I intended to find out as much information as I could before the demands for money started coming in because it always happened. Didn’t it?
I congratulated myself on a good strategy.
I joined ……. started learning ……. and ………………
I was hooked.
I learnt so much in a short time, I decided I would give the half price for one month offer a try, to see what premium is like. No way was I going to pay more. Just that one month only! The premium might not have much more, the best might be in the free bit to hook you in, it was probably a lot of hype. (I thought).
I was wrong. The premium training was even better, so much to learn, it was amazing, brilliant, fantastic.
And…… too late….. I was completely hooked, totally caught by the fantastic training and amazing community.
The Real Deal
They really were and are, the real deal.
Just over 3 weeks down the line and I have a wordpress website and blog. I thought they would be complicated and had always avoided it but it turns out that with step by step training, even I can do it.
Now when my half price month is up I intend to sign up to the yearly Premium membership. I figure that by the time the year is up I will have several sites up and running and the yearly fee will be a very minor expense.
